Women’s Outreach Mentorship Program SoCal 2022
Community and accessibility is vital to us. Everyone should have access to the outdoors as an outlet to fully express, heal, and love themselves. At Changing Tides we want to give young women in our community a chance to find the same love for the ocean that we have. That’s why we are so excited to announce that our Women’s Outreach Mentorship Program (WOMP) is coming to Encinitas, California this Spring! The last few years, Changing Tides has empowered young women through WOMP in countries like Panama, Dominican Republic, Peru & El Salvador and we plan to continue this in our own backyard!
Through this program, we specifically focus on working with underserved teen girls through mentorship, surfing & education. Our past WOMP programs around the world have proved to us that forming a meaningful relationship with the ocean and surfing create a lasting impression on a young woman’s life forever. Unfortunately, sometimes economic and social inequality prevent accessibility to the ocean, even for those living in coastal communities. Through WOMP, we hope to bridge that gap and give these young girls a newfound love for the ocean! We plan to build up these girls’ confidence, in & out of the water.

WOMP will be launching on April 20th, 2022 and runs for 8 consecutive weeks. Each week we will lead our participants in surf sessions taught by the CTF team. We will also have guests speakers leading us in important discussions about ocean safety, period education, journaling, breath-work & body positivity. We believe it’s not only important to get the girls in the surf, but also to have these crucial conversations.
We will be pairing each participant with an adult and jr. mentor to help them in and out of the surf each week. We are thrilled to have so many women coming together to broaden our surf community and are so thankful to have these amazing people investing in this cause & longing to make a positive impact!
