Featured Artist: Hannah Eddy

In the summer of 2021, Hannah Eddy visited the Changing Tides Space to paint a mural as part of the Fabric film series. To say we fell in love with Hannah is an understatement, and we are thrilled to have her as a Featured Artist at Changing Tides Foundation.

Hannah Eddy is art activism in motion, naturally bringing her heart and design esthetic together to create thought-provoking pieces that influence the world around her.

“Art is such a powerful medium because we don’t have limitations of language.  There’s not always the right words to describe a feeling or idea, and I’ve always felt that the creation of art is such an amazing tool to break past the boundaries of language.  That being said, I love incorporating phrases into my illustrations and paintings as another layer of purpose and meaning.  The forms of the letters themselves add to the overall feel in addition to their direct statement.” - Hannah Eddy

Hannah created this amazing poster for our Membership program. All 2022 members receive this artwork on a rectangle button and Tide Changer members will also receive it as an 8x10 print.

“I’ve been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember and it has always been a tool of self discovery and expression, but only recently have I discovered that I can really use it as a tool to possibly help others and really connect with people.”

“Everything that has been going on for the last 2 years has really made me reassess why I do the things I do and how I can do them better or with more meaningful impact especially with my art.  I don’t just make these illustrations to help other people, selfishly I’m also helping myself.  I start with an idea I’ve been marinating on, maybe it’s something I’m struggling with that I know other people must be too.  Using a fun lighthearted approach is my method for life, so it’s also how I create my art.  I just want everyone to really remember that we are all in this together, and if I can help remind someone of that then I consider it a success.”

Hannah recently created an art piece named “Find Unity in Community,” which we put on a Jungmaven Hemp/Cotton T-shirt to raise funds for Changing Tides Foundation. This limited T-shirt run comes in several different styles and colors and 100% of proceeds benefit CTF.

“Letting it rip and flying on a board is probably the best feeling ever.  That flow state is where I get so much of my inspiration and motivation in life.  It’s a pretty unbeatable feeling to be in the moment with gravity just letting it go.  They all have such a similar feeling but I’m way more comfortable with my feet strapped to a snowboard, and I’ve been doing that the longest, so if I’m on a wave it’s such a special feeling having the water flowing under you.  It feels much more interactive with nature when the ocean is dictating your line.  Skating is so great because it’s so accessible that you can do it anywhere and still have fun.  They all have their amazing moments and I’m so grateful for each one.”
