Body of Knowledge

Ladies, let me ask you this: When was the last time you treated yourself? I’m not talking about getting ice cream, or buying a dress, I’m talking about really treating yourself, honoring the amazingness that is you and the miracle that it is to be a woman. I’m talking about taking a day to reconnect with yourself and your femininity. I’m talking about a delicious and nurturing day of self-care, empowerment and connection in community. Does this sound like exactly what you need? Well, we’ve got just the thing for you! Join us from 10am-6pm on October 23, 2021 at the Changing Tides Foundation Community Space in Encinitas.

We are so excited to host the first-ever Body of Knowledge, a collective and consciousness summit presented by Athleta, benefitting Changing Tides Foundation, with support from AllSwell Creative. This event is a health and empowerment gathering for womxn only. We'll celebrate, activate, enjoy healthy and beautiful nourishment and dive into many different topics focusing on activism, female empowerment, and self-expression. We know activism can be exhausting. We will explore how we as women can stay nourished in order to continue to make positive change in our communities. We also believe that accurate feminine knowledge is empowering. We will learn about our bodies and their natural rhythms in order to better connect with the natural world and our place in it. Lastly, we know that creativity is paramount to self-expression - a key element of advocacy, entrepreneurialism & art. We will identify and explore our individual voices on the page in an encouraging environment.

Our day will start off with coffee and connection, provided by Rise & Luna Bar. We will then move into Mindful Movement through yoga with Athleta led by Alexandra Wood. Body of Knowledge will feature two different 90 minute workshops created by women-for women.

AllSwell founder Laura Rubin will help us tap into our creative flow-state through writing-based exercises & provide the tools to establish (or deepen) a regular journaling practice. In this accessible workshop we’ll focus on our bodies as sources of wisdom & information, using the act of journaling as a way of tuning into all that goodness. What does it mean to be distinctly yourself, not a reflection in someone else’s mirror? Peeling away the third party gaze - roles such as friend, sister, lover, mother, etc, - we’ll shift the focus to that of our own unique voice.  You’ll receive her signature AllSwell Journals in your gift bags to use for your workshops. This workshops will feature Breathwork led by Saffron & Sage with refreshments and wine provided by Bev.

As a doctor of Physical Therapy & Yoga teacher Brittney Ellers focuses on educating women on pelvic health, reproduction, sexual wellbeing and overall body literacy through open conversation and body awareness practices. Through her Period Truth Workshop you will learn to better connect with and understand your menstrual cycle so that you can create a healthy, balanced and fulfilling cycle.

Lunch will be provided by Mendocino, Suja Juice, and JUST Water and will be followed by our panel conversation on Encouraging Body Inclusivity & Conservation. Our panelists will include Hillary Sepulveda: author, spiritual & business coach, Monica Mo: founder of WellSeek & SeekHer Foundation, Carly Anderson: Content Creator, and Lex Weinstein: Creative & Activist. Our Moderator for the event will be Brianna Docimo: Area Marketing Manager of the SoCal & Southwest Athleta, and our host will be Becky Mendoza: Executive Director of Changing Tides Foundation. Following our panel conversation and workshops, we will host a Happy Hour with JuneShine and Solento Tequila.

Each attendee of the event will go home with a goodie bag filled with sustainable and eco-friendly products to guide and accelerate their journey of women empowerment, creativity & activism. We are so excited to partner with so many amazing brands to bring this event to life and we are so grateful for their donations! All ticket purchases will go straight towards benefitting our Women’s Outreach Mentorship Program - WOMP, starting in SoCal in 2022.

In addition, we are providing scholarships to 10 women of color to insure diversity and inclusivity, this event is for all womxn! Interested applicants should email us at info@changingtidesfoundation.org. We would love nothing more than for you to join us. Space is limited so don’t wait.
